Question by missmoonstruck: Can I substitute quinoa for bulgar in a recipe?
I want to make my own tabbouleh, but I can’t find bulgar in any store. I can however, find quinoa. Would it be okay to substitute in the recipe? Will it taste very different? If I can’t sub that, what would work better?

It will taste very different. Not really a good substitute. Although, the salad would still be “good.” Just not traditional tabouli. I would add a LOT of chopped parsley and tomatoes, etc. and just a bit of the quinoa — if you must sub.
But, at least here, I find bulgur wheat all over. At every grocery store.
Hmph. Maybe it is because I live near Dearborn, MI.
