Question by MINDY: What is the difference between red and white Quinoa ?
I am new to Quinoa and bought the red today. I cooked it as it said on the box and it has sort of a chewy texture. Is that how it is supposed to taste? The instructions said the color would turn translucent, but I really couldn’t see that so I let it simmer a bit longer. Still looked the same.
Any advice about Quinoa would be appreciated. Thanks ! 🙂

I think the red tastes better than the white, but that’s a personal preference. You cook it until it looks a little bit like the kernel exploded. The ratio is 2 to 1. Usually when all the water is gone, the quinoa is cooked. If you’re at a higher elevation that is subject to change. I put some olive oil and Tastefully Simple Season Salt in the water when cooking it.
